Groups, courses & workshops

At South Sydney PTS, you also have access to a range of therapeutic groups and courses, that could support you in your recovery. Groups are a wonderful way to connect with like-minded people, and know you are not alone. There are many healing / supportive groups and courses run in our group space by compassionate and dedicated practitioners, including Meditation courses and Restorative Yoga workshops.

Some examples of our services are:

iRest is a proven-effective approach to using Yoga Nidra (a form of relaxation/ meditation) and deep relaxation techniques, to overcome trauma. Gently, safely addressing and healing any pain and trauma, present in the body or mind, iRest helps us to get back in touch with with the calm, always accessible aspect of ourselves, the part that has not been impacted by trauma. iRest has been widely used with war veterans in the U.S. as well as in hospices, schools and clinics, and has been endorsed by the U.S Army Surgeon General as a complimentary treatment for trauma.

Mindfulness helps us to become aware of the workings of our minds, and learn to allow emotions or thoughts to come and go, while remaining focused and calm, and learning acceptance for what is.

Often used where people have a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder or issues with affect regulation often associated with a history of trauma or difficult experiences early in life, DBT is aimed at skills in understanding and regulating extreme emotion, developing self-soothing techniques and learning interpersonal skills.
