Anna Lagana
Counsellor
I have a particular interest in working with anxiety, depression, parental estrangement, childhood trauma, grief and loss and self-esteem. My counselling style draws from attachment theory, person centred therapy, trauma-informed therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, emotion focused therapy and creative therapies.
Counselling for me is all about having a safe relationship in which you can examine and express your truth and show up exactly as you are. I strive to help you feel seen, heard and will meet you with compassion wherever you are in your emotions in the moment. I support individuals to manage symptoms but also explore and understand the root cause of these symptoms. In my work with couples, I enjoy guiding partners to learn to be emotionally available, empathetic and engaged with one another and strengthen their bond to create a safe haven between them.
I worked in Ireland in the area of family law before relocating to Australia. My passion to support others through counselling was ignited by my own therapy journey. When I relocated to Australia I worked with disability and mental health organisations for 5 years before setting up my private practice 2 years ago.
As a registered member of the Australian Counselling Association, I follow all ethical and professional guidelines including regular fortnightly supervision and professional development hours.
