Dr Jessica Cheung
Clinical Psychologist
I am a warm, compassionate and nonjudgmental clinical psychologist, with an interest in working with adult individuals trying to improving the quality of their relationships and life. I have particular experience in working with individuals with complex developmental backgrounds in helping them to understand the root of unhelpful relationship patterns and behaviours, and to develop more adaptive coping and functioning.
I completed my clinical psychology training and PhD at the University of New South Wales. I have 15 years of experience in the treatment of a range of psychological and emotional difficulties including post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders and mood disorders. I have gained expertise through working in a diverse range of public health and private settings. These include working in private practice, an adult anxiety clinic, hospital oncology service, clinical research setting for the treatment of post traumatic stress disorder in police officers and first responders, a refugee trauma research group, and adult community mental health services.
I believe in tailoring evidence-based treatments to each individual and have received training in cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, schema therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy and eye movement processing and desensitisation (EMDR) therapy.
