Margy Green
Social Worker
Margy Green has been a Social Worker nearly 20 years working in government and non-government roles. Margy led the Social Work team as the Senior Social Worker at The Forensic Hospital in Sydney (2015-2019), and Rivendell Child and Adolescent Mental Health (2019 – 2021). She completed a Churchill Fellowship on supporting families in high secure forensic environments in 2017 and worked part time as a Child and Family Counsellor at Relationships Australia Adolescent Program (2021 – 2023), while establishing her private practice Co-mend Counselling. She continues to specialise in working with children, young people and their families dealing with complex social issues, and is accredited to facilitate various parenting programs such as Tuning in to Teens and Parent Hope Project.
As a social worker and family therapist, Margy believes the best way she can help people thrive, is to look at the person in their environment. This involves looking back at the significant people in their life, and what have been the contributing factors that led to their current circumstances. She finds when you have a good understanding of these influencing factors you are best placed to do things differently in the future.
Margy provides assessments and interventions in rooms, online and an outreach service the community across Sydney. She works for Department of Communities and Justice Victims Services, the Child Sex Offending Program and Public Health Network Psychological Support Services.
Margy’s Christian faith means a lot to her. She comes from a big family, has a wonderful husband, and spends as much of her spare time in or on the water or reading. She is connected with various committees, boards and associations as she enjoys passing on her experience to help others. She has been the Co-convenor the Australian Association of Social Workers NSW Mental Health Practice Group since 2020, and in 2025 joins the Management Committee for the Australian Association of Family Therapy.
